Special Notice - Summer Market Schedule 2014

SPLG Market goes on Summer Schedule

    Valued Customers:
As we head into our fourth summer of serving the St. Petersburg locavore community, we are grateful for your ongoing support of our Market. If you have been with us for awhile, then you know that this summer’s produce and product list is TRIPLE what it was last summer. Unlike last summer when we had more customers than produce, this summer we have more produce than customers. This is only temporary as the summer season cycles in and we still need—and greatly value—your year-round support. We expect this kind of evolution for this pioneering local Market called St. Pete Locally Grown and we are prepared to handle new growth as summer progresses!

OUR SUMMER SCHEDULE Our online Market will open every other week effective this week. This means that the Market will open this coming Monday, July 7th, with orders delivered on Friday as usual. The Market will then close the week of July 14th and re-open on July 21st and so on, until mid-or-end of October. WHEN DEMAND BUILDS FOR IT, we will resume weekly deliveries BEFORE summer’s end if needed. We would like to hear from you about any concerns you have that will keep you from ordering every other week. We want to address each concern so that we may mutually support one another. For a quick glance of our Market schedule, please refer to—and store as a favorite—our Calendar of Events. Thanks to all who are continually promoting us to friends and family!

WEEKLY CUSTOMERS Most of our customers order every other week. The majority of our greens last for 2 to 3 weeks when properly stored. We will still offer domestic fruit whenever available. Of course, frozen foods won’t be an issue. Regarding dairy, here are guidelines for keeping yours fresh up to two weeks. I know these work because my goat kefir lasts a good two weeks or more. A number of dairy products can be frozen too.

MARKET COMMUNITY EVENTS & SPONSORED WORKSHOPS
NO changes here. Our potluck socials will continue on the 4th Saturday of each month. Nathan’s urban farming classes will continue the 2nd and 3rd Saturdays of each month.

VOLUNTEERS GREATLY NEEDED Our volunteer opportunities remain the same this summer and we have lost a few valuable resources recently. We are recruiting new folks to serve the St. Petersburg Community from 2 to 4 hours “per Market week” on Wednesdays thru Fridays. We will train and we promise you will have fun! Please call or email me if you want to meet some fabulous, like-minded people!

    Best,
    Tina, YOUR Market Manager
