    Market NOW Open - Dec. 3, 2012

This post expired on December 02, 2022.

OUR TRIBUTE TO “Llama Jim” aka James L. Murray
It is with great regret that we announce the recent passing of Jim Murray of Llamarojafarms in Pinellas Park. A sudden accident has taken him from his family and friends. He will be missed by everyone who knew him, including all his loyal customers from St. Pete Locally Grown’s online Market. At the outset of its expansion, Nathan’s garden was especially blessed with generous applications of Jim’s highly potent llama manure product, dubbed “llama beans”, in the days before Jim started to package and sell it. Even so, he always had extra to contribute to Nathan’s Natural Veggies garden. Jim’s product was unique in this area, incredibly effective, and very well utilized by the local growing community. We will miss seeing kind and gentle-natured Jim and his faithful dog, Buddy, who survives him. Safe journey, dear friend Jim! Our gardens continue to grow and to be nurtured—as do those who eat their fresh vegetables—by the foundation of Jim’s generosity.

    DON’T MISS UPCOMING EVENTS BELOW
Wonderful things to do in St. Petersburg from promoting activism to touring local gardens!

    NEW GROWERS
Richard Nicholson has just posted produce from Richard’s Garden. They promise to be culinary delights that are much needed by our Market. Welcome Richard and thank you for coming on board!

    WORDEN FARM
Worden Farm has been unable to fill our orders for the past two weeks as their CSA has opened and they are focusing on fulfilling commitments they have made to their CSA customers. It is possible that we will lose them as a resource. The good news is that John Matthews of Suncoast Food Alliance is hard at work digging up another resource for us. We will soon have news on another Grower! We are truly grateful for John’s dedication to helping us serve you. He is THE “food forager extraordinaire!”

    MEANWHILEBACK AT THE FARM
We are absolutely thrilled with how our expanding Grower base in St. Petersburg continues to rise to the challenge of feeding our existing customer base. Even without Worden Farm last week we somehow managed to break all previous records for Market sales. THIS IS OUR VISION UNFOLDING! Thank you St. Petersburg for believing in us and continuing to support our Market. Besides which, we are so happy with a rave review of our Market posted by new customer Charlotte Stirk on her blog. She won a free membership to our Market by winning a local contest sponsored by Keep St. Petersburg Local and has been enjoying the bounty of produce from St. Petersburg’s urban farms obtained through our Market.

PLEASE REVIEW PRODUCT DESCRIPTIONS FROM PAPAYA PETE
Pete’s papayas are becoming all the rage in St. Petersburg. His variety is amazing! He has updated his product information pertaining to ripeness and quality of his fruit offerings. This is AN IMPORTANT READ for all his loyal customers.

WELCOME TO OUR NEWEST CUSTOMERS! Once you have submitted your order, if in doubt about what you owe, you can always confirm what you have been charged for by checking your account history and viewing your most current invoice. Instructions on how to do that are on our Q&A page under the question entitled Since you don’t provide an invoice with delivery, how do I know what I owe? . Also, since your vegetables are picked fresh within 24 hours of delivery, they should be lasting for WEEKS in your refrigerator. When you accept delivery, please take a few minutes to inspect your order to protect your vegetables from unnecessary spoilage. Lastly, it is imperative that you understand our policy on Unclaimed Orders found on our Q&A page. When you make a purchase you are agreeing to abide by this policy.
