Featured Garden: The Faith House, St. Petersburg, Fl

    Message from Market Manager

Our first potluck social of the year on Saturday night was very well attended. Thanks to our Growers, Volunteers and Customers who attended. The buffet fair was plentiful and delicious! SPECIAL THANKS to Clark & Peggy Tibbits who so graciously shared their experiences around the fire after dinner. Intentional Communities never looked so good and many people were inspired by the lifestyle with which the Tibbits have been blessed. These monthly socials are held exclusively for actively participating growers, volunteers and customers. Customers who have purchased from our Market within the last four months will receive an Evite to attend the next event. Become part of this circle so you don’t miss out. “St. Pete Locally Grown does alot more than sell tomatoes. We build community!”

    REQUEST FOR TESTIMONIALS
If you’ve purchased a product on our Market that you really want to recommend to others, we would appreciate any feedback or recommendation that you wish to email us. We will plan to post some of them within the product descriptions to assist others in making their selection. With the cold & flu season well underway, along with aches and pains that can accompany them, we are particularly asking for feedback on the remedies you have been purchasing from either HerbalWise or Imperial Gardens. Both these ladies are working overtime to help us fight off and recover from the “bugs” that track us down and occasionally catch us. Thank you to both Deserie Valloreo of HerbalWise and Jennifer Gilman of Imperial Gardens for your investments in our health.

    WE ARE PROUD!
Nathan’s Natural Veggies is one of three featured gardens in Jan. 15, 2013 edition of 83 Degrees Media online magazine. The article is a result of our Sunday Lecture Series when Eckerd College’s Debra Hilbert and Molex’s Richard Duncan (Grower “Sustainable Me”) delivered presentations on their respective urban gardens, one educational and the other corporate. Thank you to Janan Talafer, Freelance Writer Extraordinaire for making it count!

Market NOW Open - Dec. 31, 2012 HAPPY NEW YEAR

    Message from Market Manager

    HAPPY HEALTHY NEW YEAR
As we launch our third year online we reflect on how our Market has evolved since January 2011. More and more customers are expressing gratitude for the fresh, chemical-free produce we deliver year round. We will continue to support our customers in making healthier choices for their diet and lifestyle. We thank you in advance for supporting our Market in the year ahead! You can do this, not only by shopping regularly but by recruiting friends and family to join a co-op in your neighborhood. This year’s goal is to double our co-op locations. Will you help us to do that? In short: it takes just two people to form a co-op, you don’t have to handle any money, and you don’t have to be there to accept delivery! Here are the simple guidelines explaining our “Fresh Fridays” co-op program.

SALE TO CELEBRATE LAUNCH OF OUR THIRD YEAR ONLINE!
Pastured chickens reduced to $4.29 lb. this week only!…in appreciation for your support of our online Market.

    PORK IS BACK!

    NEW GROWERS
Have you noticed that our Grower base is expanding? Slow but sure, local urban farmers are signing on to share their produce overage with the St. Petersburg Community. Our goal is to become self-sustaining and not have to purchase additional produce volume outside of St. Petersburg. Thanks to building customer demand, more Growers are recognizing the important benefits they reap by selling through our Market. There IS a grateful community just waiting for their produce to appear. Do you know any chemical-free produce growers in your neighborhood? Have you told them about us? Please do! YOU are key in helping us to build the small town farming community of yesteryear RIGHT HERE in lovely St. Pete! The “vibes” of a healthy community are in the air!

YOUR DEADLINE TO ORDER FROM GERALDSON COMMUNITY FARM (GCF) IS TUESDAY 6PM
If you have interest in purchasing from Geraldson Community Farm (GCF), PLEASE ORDER your produce from them by Tuesday, 6:00 PM. Message from Market Manager

We do not close for the Holidays.
We will have fresh fruit, like apples and pears, etc. by the end of this month. Sorry for the delay.

    NEW GROWERS THIS WEEK!

    • Thanks to Ray Wunderlich III for bringing a brand new, local community garden to our Market. Ray is responsible for managing production of organically grown, chemical-free vegetables from the Pioneer Settlement Garden located at Boyd Hill Preserve in St. Petersburg. The Garden is a unique, inclusive educational/community based, chemical-free and organically grown vegetable garden and nursery. Welcome and thank you for coming on board!
    • We also welcome Cindy Tyson who is offering star fruit through our Market’s new outlet dubbed St. Pete Fruit Stand. This outlet will serve as a seasonal grower spot when it just doesn’t make sense for someone to sign up as a full-time Grower. They will still get the glory for providing the fruit by having their name posted with the product description and on the Fruit Stand grower page. We hope this will encourage those of you with abundant fruit trees to consider selling your overage through our Market.

UNIQUE HOLIDAY GIFTS TO DAZZLE YOUR LOVED ONES
What type of gift can you buy for the person who has everything or what special treat can you bring to liven up a party? Need a stocking stuffer? We have lots of locally made, unique items to choose from on our Market! Please support these local small businesses all year round, many of which can only be found on our online Market at www.stpete.locallygrown.net.

    Market NOW Open - Dec. 10, 2012

    Message from Market Manager

    MAGICALHOLIDAY PARTY
That’s what everyone kept calling it. Thanks to all who came and shared food and fellowship under the stars. A pleasant relaxing time was had by all in the backyard garden where Nathan orchestrated major mood lighting and Rita & Denise serenaded us all with seredipitous song and lovely duets. Wonderful potluck fare was shared by all. If you left anything at the party, please email us and we’ll deliver it with your next order. How’s that for service?

    LIKE CHOCOLATE?
This time of year is especially perfect for enjoying luxurious flavors. Be sure to include Flour Free Cakes from GateauOChocolat on your Holiday Menu. Chef Roux’s Gluten Free Chocolate Cake is made for you in St. Petersburg all year round for all occasions. This cake is beautiful to present at parties! And don’t miss TWO different types of hot chocolate offered by Savory Spice Shop. If you cannot run downtown to Joan and Paul’s Shop, it is now conveniently available on our online Market.

    HEALING REMEDIES
A new category on our Market products. Scroll down the list to “R” for Remedies. Imperial Garden’s Jennifer Gilman is now filling orders for natural remedies especially geared for cold and flu relief.

    ABUNDANCE AND VARIETY OF PRODUCE
We hope to connect with a local, chemical-free or organic grower who can supplement the fabulous produce we obtain from the small urban farms of St. Petersburg. Until this manifests, we will not have the abundance and variety of produce that was previously available when Worden Farm was on board. All this makes it even more important for our customers to support the efforts of our small urban farmers who continue to grow in number. Your financial support encourages our small urban Growers to expand in ways that are feasible to help meet the growing demand we have for locally grown, chemical-free produce. We are a small but mighty Market! Sincere thanks to all who continue to support us!

WELCOME TO OUR NEWEST CUSTOMERS! Once you have submitted your order, if in doubt about what you owe, you can always confirm what you have been charged for by checking your account history and viewing your most current invoice. Instructions on how to do that are on our Q&A page under the question entitled Since you don’t provide an invoice with delivery, how do I know what I owe? . Also, since your vegetables are picked fresh within 24 hours of delivery, they should be lasting for WEEKS in your refrigerator. When you accept delivery, please take a few minutes to inspect your order to protect your vegetables from unnecessary spoilage. Lastly, it is imperative that you understand our policy on Unclaimed Orders found on our Q&A page. When you make a purchase you are agreeing to abide by this policy.
