    Grower News

    VALUED MARKET SUPPORTERS IN BRADENTON
Geraldson Community Farm (GCF) continues to be a loyal supporter of our Market despite the demand for their produce generated by their CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) program where customers purchase shares to reserve their weekly vegetables for pickup. Without GCF we would be struggling to fill the gaps in our veggie supply! STARTING THIS WEEK: GCF’s CSA’s are done for the season and we will have access to more variety and volume than before.

SUMMER GROWERS ON BOARD! WILL YOU BE A CUSTOMER THIS SUMMER?
As far as we know, we’ll have plenty of produce this summer to serve your voracious appetites for freshly harvested, locally grown, chemical-free produce. So far we have commitments from Brenon’s Homegrown, Faithful Farms, Glory Road Gardens, Nathan’s Natural Veggies, Pioneer Settlement Garden, The Faith House, and Toad Stool Ponds. We sincerely appreciate our customers who inform us that they are leaving for the summer. It helps us not to wonder why their orders stop coming! THANKS IN ADVANCE to all our summer Growers AND summer Customers. We need ALL of your participation to sustain this local Market especially during the hot months ahead.

    NEW GROWER PLANNED FOR JUNE!
My Mother’s Garden will be joining us in June to provide our Market with fresh USDA inspected, grass-fed pastured pork from Wimauma. VERY Local!

    HOPING FOR BLUEBERRIES
Had hoped for blueberries this week from a new Grower. We’ll try again for next week. Your patience appreciated!

    FAITHFUL FARMS LETTUCE
Tara & Steve’s new crop of beautiful lettuce will be ready in about 3 weeks. We will miss it until then. Next week we may have some surprises from this new Grower! They are completely replanting their crops right now in preparation for summer harvests. We are SO grateful they will be selling through us this summer and YEAR ROUND.

IN THE MEANTIME, LOOKING FOR A NEW LETTUCE EXPERIENCE?
Do a product search on our Market for beautiful salad mixes foraged from the urban food forests of Nathan’s Natural Veggies & Brenon’s Homegrown. Salad dressing recipes are included on many of the product descriptions. These mixes will be available all summer long and offer a nice change of pace to the lettuces of which you are more familiar. Try something different for the upcoming Memorial Day Weekend!

YOUR ASSIGNMENT SHOULD YOU CHOOSE TO ACCEPT IT…
Please help us spread the word about our new 6-month membership promo offering for first time members of St. Pete Locally Grown. Forward this email to others and point them to the sidebar info with all the details. Let’s show them how to “fall in love” with St. Pete Locally Grown.

CUSTOMER FEEDBACK IS IMPORTANT TO US
I am always seeking feedback from customers on produce, products, quality, packaging etc. You are encouraged to contact me with any comments even if you think they are minor. All of them impact the image we want to create for our Market (our little piece of paradise) here in St. Petersburg. The sooner you contact me, the quicker I can address any concerns, process any refunds, and reset the course for success for our growers, our Market, and most of all make you happy!

    MARKET TUTORIAL
Don’t miss our helpful shopping hints now posted as a link at the top of every web page on St. Pete Locally Grown. Check it out and then share it with anyone who asks about us! Thanks so much to Volunteer Jeff Yentzer for his dedication to helping our Market succeed within the St. Petersburg Community.

IF FRUIT IS IMPORTANT TO YOU
You’ll probably notice there isn’t any fresh fruit on the Market this week. Lately, there is barely any demand for it and the Market has been taking a loss. Let me know if/how important fruit is for you? I am at a loss as to what our customers want me to provide. Apples and pears sell really well when I can get them domestically but most of them are imported right now. Also, Winn Dixie had great prices on organic apples that I can’t beat. Check them out!

    WELCOME TO OUR NEWEST CUSTOMERS!
Once you have submitted your order, if in doubt about what you owe, you can always confirm what you have been charged for by checking your account history and viewing your most current invoice. Instructions on how to do that are on our Q&A page under the question entitled Since you don’t provide an invoice with delivery, how do I know what I owe? Also, since your vegetables are picked fresh within 24 hours of delivery, they should be lasting for WEEKS in your refrigerator. When you accept delivery, please take a few minutes to inspect your order to protect your vegetables from unnecessary spoilage. Lastly, it is imperative that you understand our policy on Unclaimed Orders found on our Q&A page. When you make a purchase you are agreeing to abide by this policy.
