Featured Volunteer, Lynda Stolzman
Lynda Stolzman has been a volunteer for St. Pete Locally Grown for three years. With a background in organizational development, she has contributed her valuable expertise to our growing Market business as it reaches new challenges at higher levels. From helping us define our roles to providing a serene outlook in which to examine our business model, Lynda has been a huge support to our local initiative called St. Pete Locally Grown. With prior experience building a very large co-op in Vermont, she knows the nuances of such a project. Major thanks are in order to her for the strength and confidence she brings to the backbone of our local venture. Forever grateful cannot begin to describe how we feel about this generous lady. THANK YOU, Lynda!

IS THERE A DELIVERY PERSON HIDING WITHIN YOU?
Volunteers are needed THIS WEEK to help with Friday deliveries of locally grown, chemical-free vegetables to St. Petersburg customers. For newbies, we have a 30-minute phone conference orientation each Wednesday at 1130AM. Call Market Manager Tina Levy AT 727-515-9469 to inquire on qualifications and to get in on the phone conference. As part of our delivery day, you get to ride for two hours as part of a tag team delivering throughout St. Petersburg and into Gulfport. Our delivery folks are forming bonds with one another and getting to meet smiling and grateful customers excited about their vegetables. YOU CAN GIVE EVEN GIVE THEM YOUR BUSINESS CARD. We have 3 shifts to fill which run from 11am to 1pm, 1 to 3pm, and 3 to 5pm. All times are approximate. PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD TO THOSE LOOKING TO MAKE NEW CONNECTIONS WITHIN THE LOCAL COMMUNITY.
PLEASE PROMOTE US IN YOUR NEIGHBORHOODS
This coming Friday, Feb. 28th we launch THREE veggie pickup spots for your orders from St. Pete Locally Grown in Historic Uptown, Euclid Heights, and Euclid-St. Pauls Neighborhoods. Gracious folks from these neighborhoods have offered space for our customers to leave coolers for Friday deliveries. We are testing the waters this coming week to determine if there enough demand for us to travel to these neighborhoods to deliver. If you want to try us out, this is the week to do it and show your interest. Try us twice before deciding on a membership for YEAR ROUND LOCALLY GROWN veggies delivered to your neighborhood now and ALL SUMMER LONG. Based on the number of orders from these neighborhoods we will determine if there is enough demand to deliver there. If not enough demand yet then customers will continue to be assigned to other neighborhood spots nearby. Promote community building within your neighborhood AND support the locally grown food movement. It’s time for this to happen. The sustainability of our business depends on this cooperative effort. Please help us get this working.
LOOKING FOR A CO-OP PICKUP NEAR YOU?
Check out SPLG’s current list of drop spots on our Q&A page. Not finding a good match? Call Market Manager at 727-515-9469. We can usually find a win-win solution.
LAST WEEK TO PAY MEMBERSHIP AT OLD RATE OF $50 PER YEAR
If you have been holding off on placing your third order, wait no more! Next week it will cost you $90 to join. As our active members will tell you, membership in St. Pete Locally Grown has intrinsic value beyond what is listed here but you won’t discover that unless you become a member or speak to those who are. The tangible list of membership benefits in this Market Community gives you and your household access to high quality, organically grown produce from local urban farmers with whom we have built trusting working relationships, one that does not require purchase or minimum orders, lets you mingle with local SME’s who are part of our business’ network, and attend monthly potluck socials where growers, volunteers and customers converge to build a small town farming community right here in St. Petersburg. We could charge much more for membership but we choose to make this a very INCLUSIVE local movement. As usual, we will continue to offer installment payments for those who need them.
WELCOME TO OUR NEWEST CUSTOMERS!
Once you have submitted your order, if in doubt about what you owe, you can always confirm what you have been charged for by checking your account history and viewing your most current invoice. Instructions on how to do that are on our Q&A page under the question entitled Since you don’t provide an invoice with delivery, how do I know what I owe? Also, since your vegetables are picked fresh within 24 hours of delivery, they should be lasting for WEEKS in your refrigerator. When you accept delivery, please take a few minutes to inspect your order to protect your vegetables from unnecessary spoilage. Lastly, it is imperative that you understand our policy on Unclaimed Orders found on our Q&A page. When you make a purchase you are agreeing to abide by this policy.
IF YOU GROW YOUR OWN FOOD & YOU WANT TO SHARE YOUR PHOTOS
Please email me and I’ll send you an invite that will give you access to posting photos of your abundance on our Pinterest page. If not, then Follow us as we encourage local urban farmers to post their food garden photos to share with the entire St. Petersburg Community! Let’s document the power of growing food LOCALLY! Just follow this link to our Pinterest project. We are also documenting “The art of distributing food to the St. Petersburg Community”. Hope you will follow our progress! with that project as well.
