How This All Started
Back in 2010, Nathan Levy set out to plant a garden that would succeed in Florida’s hot climate, year round! Having moved here from California where he was tremendously successful with growing his own food, he failed THREE times before he discovered the secret of growing year round in this climate. For those who like to sneak a peek at history, here is a look back at Nathan’s wonderful effort starting back in 2010 before the St. Pete Locally Grown was conceptually born in St. Petersburg.
Message from Your Market Manager
IF YOU HAVE NOT YET ORDERED FROM US
Do you want to save $40 on a new membership with St. Pete Locally Grown? At the very least, read what you’re missing out on before you make a decision to pass it up. You have just 3 Fridays left to accept delivery at the old rate of $50 per year. Membership in St. Pete Locally Grown has intrinsic value beyond what is listed here but you won’t discover that unless you become a member or speak to those who are. The tangible list of membership benefits in this Market Community gives you and your household access to high quality, organically grown produce from local urban farmers with whom we have built trusting working relationships, one that does not require purchase or minimum orders, lets you mingle with local SME’s who are part of our business’ network, and attend monthly potluck socials where growers, volunteers and customers converge to build a small town farming community right here in St. Petersburg. Membership fees are being increased for the coming year by $40 effective March 1, 2014. This brings the total annual investment per household to $90—or $7.50 per month—which is still a very affordable proposition when compared to other local options. We could charge much more for membership but we choose to make this a very INCLUSIVE local movement. As usual, we will continue to offer installment payments for those who need them. With increasing expenses related to delivery and the support that takes, this change will help to sustain our Market and provide affordable, high quality goods from our Market to your door. This Market currently operates totally with volunteers. It is hoped that our volunteer team managers can start being compensated for their longterm dedication to our growing business. We need your financial support so the Market can continue to provide this much needed service and valuable products to the St. Petersburg Community. Please contact me with questions or comments.
WELCOME TO OUR NEWEST CUSTOMERS!
Once you have submitted your order, if in doubt about what you owe, you can always confirm what you have been charged for by checking your account history and viewing your most current invoice. Instructions on how to do that are on our Q&A page under the question entitled Since you don’t provide an invoice with delivery, how do I know what I owe? . Also, since your vegetables are picked fresh within 24 hours of delivery, they should be lasting for WEEKS in your refrigerator. When you accept delivery, please take a few minutes to inspect your order to protect your vegetables from unnecessary spoilage. Lastly, it is imperative that you understand our policy on Unclaimed Orders found on our Q&A page. When you make a purchase you are agreeing to abide by this policy.
ARE YOU GROWING ANY OF YOUR OWN FOOD?
If so, please email me and I’ll send you an invite that will give you access to posting photos of your abundance on our Pinterest page. If not, then Follow us as we encourage local urban farmers to post their food garden photos to share with the entire St. Petersburg Community! Let’s document the power of growing food LOCALLY! Just follow this link to our Pinterest project. We are also documenting “The art of distributing food to the St. Petersburg Community”. Hope you will follow our progress! with that project as well.
