Coquina Key Bee Sanctuary is a small family beekeeping business in St. Petersburg, Florida. Our mission is to contribute to overall bee health by advocating for more backyard beekeepers and by keeping small scale local apiaries. Our bees in turn intermingle with Florida’s agriculture bees providing a healthier environment for pollinators and subsequently restoring a healthier food chain.

Our inaugural product on SPLG is the Save the Bees Pack, a combo of bee-lover products including five bee-friendly flower seeds, two varieties of lotion bars made with beeswax from Coquina Key Bee Sanctuary wax cappings and a free sample jar of local raw wildflower honey from St Petersburg, FL. We love our bees and use only organic all natural essential oils when the bees need help fighting pests and only when the bees are not making honey for us. Save the bees by supporting your local beekeeper and growing pollinator friendly flowers!

In line with our mission, we mentor new beekeepers in their beekeeping journeys and sell nucleus hives, commonly called “nooks” or “starter hives”. Our nucleus hives come with five frames of Florida bees and a European queen. You get to keep the nucleus box for use in your apiary (which you will need for convenient bee population management). We are also starting a “Host-a-Hive” Program for those who would like to have bees in their backyard or small urban farm but would like someone else to take care of them. As a member of the program, you receive a monthly honey allowance, enjoy improved pollination on your property, and enjoy the world of the honeybees up close.
