Velouria Farms

Website: velouriafarms.wordpress.com/

Velouria Farms is an urban farm in St. Petersburg that has a large garden and several farm animals.

We use chemical-free methods in our garden and have grown these vegetables since we started in 2009: tomatoes, peppers, carrots, radishes, lettuce, spinach, cabbage, broccoli, cucumber, cauliflower, peas, beans, beets, kohlrabi, turnips, kale, onions, squash, zucchini, okra, eggplant, collards, brussels sprouts, cantaloupe, corn and herbs such as parsley, dill and basil.

We also have several egg-laying hens. They are Rhode Island Reds that give us about three dozen gorgeous and delicious brown eggs a week.

We also have a potbellied pig named Penny, a velvety rabbit named Paco and three cats.

We have a large, two-compartment compost bin in which we develop a rich, chemical-free fertilizer for our garden. Our farm animals are pets and help supplement the compost pile.
